HONOLULULike father, like son, right?

Bobby Nash, rated No. 2 in the state in Hawaii Sports Network’s Preseason All-State list, committed to the
University of Hawaii today.

The 6-foot-6 senior asserted himself last season as a key component of Iolani’s state championship squad. His father, Bob Nash, is a UH assistant coach and was the cornerstone of
Hawaii’s “Fabulous Five” era in the early ‘70s.

Nash returns with guard Derrick Low, the state’s No. 1-ranked player, this winter as the basketball season begins. Last season, the lean forward showed extended range on his pull-up jump shot and averaged 16 points per game. He also tallied 10 rebounds, nine assists and two steals per contest.

He is listed as the No. 98 player in the RivalsHoops.com Top 100 prospect list. ESPN.com ranks him 87th in the nation.

The HSN Preseason All-State list is used by McDonald’s All-American to rank the top players in all states.

Hawaii has already secured commitments from Logan Lee, a 6-2 point guard from South Plains college (Levelland, Texas) and 6-8 Jeff Blackett of Salt Lake Community College.
